Visa Information

Visa requirements and laws regarding entry into foreign countries change frequently, and you, as the guest are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary travel documents for entry into all countries during your journey. Non-U.S. citizens should contact the appropriate consular office for entry requirements pertaining to their journey.

An Electronic Travel Authority (eTA) is required for U.S. or Canadian passport holders for entry into Kenya and must be obtained prior to departure (including children under 18 years of age). To apply, visit etakenya.go.ke. A single-entry eTA is valid for one journey and expires upon exiting Kenya. Kenya eTA applications may be submitted up to three months (but no later than three days) prior to travel. Apply as soon as possible to ensure adequate time for authorization.

Guests travelling on a journey that enters Kenya multiple times (after visiting either Tanzania, Uganda or Rwanda) only need to secure the initial eTA. On arrival in Kenya, they will receive a Visitor’s Pass that will allow them re-entry into Kenya after visiting other countries.

Save the eTA (sent as a PDF) on your mobile device and also print it out. Your eTA needs to be shown at all departure and arrival points. For travellers who have an Android phone, there is the option to store your Approved eTA in the Kenya Travel Authorization mobile app. You can download the app for free in Google Play Store. The app is currently not available in the Apple Store.

Vaccination Requirements

You will be travelling to areas of malaria transmission. We strongly advise that you speak with your doctor or travel clinic regarding your itinerary, individual risk assessment and options for mosquito bite prevention, and antimalarial drugs. We recommend filling any prescriptions before you depart.

A yellow fever vaccination, administered at least 10 days prior to your arrival, is only required for this destination if you are arriving from, or have transited through, a yellow fever-endemic area in South America or Africa. The CDC and WHO each provide a current list of all affected countries. Please be sure to carry the International Certificate of Vaccination provided by your physician, as you may be denied entry without it. If your physician advises against receiving the vaccination, they can provide you with the necessary documentation.
